Discerning the Truth from the Poop

"I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not,
and found them to be false."
I'm reading a book and I'm on the chapter that's describing the many views within Christianity. As a Christian, I am not naive to what it's become over the centuries or immune to it's many deceptions planted within in it. We were warned thoroughly by God in the scriptures of this very thing; it doesn't come as a surprise.
Through Christianity's many factions, sects, and denominations, etc., it's steered far from the simplicity that is in Christ. The finished work on the cross.
The whole bible being about Jesus from beginning to end. The story of how He became Israel. God's love story for mankind.
We use God's Word for political ideologies and horrific agendas. There are some basic truths in the bible that would shut down ALL false prophecy if we ask God to help us in the matter.
Obsession with signs, wonders, experiences, and "end times/eschatology", and prophecies - each faction with their own version of things...maybe too proud to admit they've been embarrassingly used, abused, and fooled to further longstanding agendas.
But maybe some love the lie? Maybe some do not know it's a lie? It has me asking myself, "what lies do I love"?

It's tricky and it's cunning. I guess that's some of the result of us having our own ability to choose and reason?
We get to decide for ourselves and discern the truth from the poop.
Paul says that the spiritually immature are tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine....
Good shepherds can guard the flock from being carried about by every wind of doctrine only if they instruct the church in true doctrine.
What we're NOT doing here is "being tossed to and fro" (you might pull out that card if you click around on some of my links).
We are clinging to the doctrine of Christ and not trusting the teachings of men. Especially when physical evidence seems to point that the lies that we are being told are immeasurable!
Back to the book I'm reading.....
In a nutshell, the book I'm reading describes Futurism, Historicism, Idealism, and Preterism, with Futurism on the front lines of what most Christians believe in a form of these days.

Within Futurism, we have Premillennialism, Postmillennialism, and Amillennialism. And within all of those views, Dispensationalism is sprinkled throughout all of them.
Then there folks that take scripture literally and some figuratively. So which scripture is literal and which scripture is figurative? Depends on who you ask. Some will quickly correct you and inform you that you are not using proper hermeneutics.
"Interpreting the bible for oneself does not mean that we can ignore the history of interpretation in the church, though we should keep in mind that the church is fallible and has not been unified on many points."
-Charles Meek
It has been the norm for Christians to read the bible through the lens of daily news events and trying to attach bible prophecy, establish timelines, and writing end time books.
Men are unreliable. Jesus is not! Biblical history is not unreliable. God is not confused, we are. Are all men and women wrong about everything? NO. Iron sharpens iron. But at some point we have to admit we've been lied to and misled on much and work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. I don't play around with my eternity.
I may share some teachings and perspectives from others on my site with the disclaimer that we must test all things and spirits against the Word of God. Are they Christ-centered?
I put together this post of tips for reading & studying God's Word for those that may be faith curious or new to the faith; it provides a few links and tools that have been helpful to me when I'm reading the bible while we try to navigate and discern the truth from the poop!
Whether you are reading this post in 2025 or 2050, all of the factions, sects, denominations have been wrong several times over by now, none of the false prophets have apologized for being wrong, and folks have fallen away from the faith exponentially - but be encouraged!
Somehow you are still seeking His face. God is still pursuing you.
Your faith is stronger than any false prophecy
or lying sign or wonder!!
Here in 2025, we have this huge jigsaw in front of us and it's a mess; we can barely make sense of it. Some of us just know things are not right! Maybe one day, it will all make sense enough for us to be able to help folks not fall away from the faith. Pure religion undefiled. The simplicity of Christ! Maybe I'll even be able to make some sense of some of the things I've shared here on my site.
Through our knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
This post is my personal observations, thoughts, and opinions this morning. As always, research for yourself. Think for yourself. Don't ever let my words or anyone else's be the final say, even if it sounds good. Test all things and hold fast to what is good!
"As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions."
"Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained."
𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲. 𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀.
We know that “all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to YOUR name give glory, Because of YOUR mercy, Because of YOUR truth.
