I was listening to a Christian rap song and there was a cuss word in it (gasp!). The Pharisees in the comment section came out in full force.
So I was was just thinking back to some scripture where Jesus was pretty frank about how He felt about certain folks and issues. I'm not encouraging followers of Christ to go around cussing. Not at all. All I'm saying is work out your own salvation with fear and trembling and don't be a stumbling block to those who are not as "upstanding" as you are.
God uses all kinds of people to spit the truth.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
There is not one of us that gets everything 100% right 100% of the time. That's why you test for the spirit of truth.

I believe Jesus "cussed" a few times to get His point across when he walked the earth, especially when He saw what the religious people were saying and doing to others. There may not be any four letter words said, but believe you me, Jesus gave them what we would call a โcoming to Jesus talkโ here in the South.
For just a minute, put aside that mild mannered image of Jesus. Hear what he said to the most educated religious persons in his day.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which on the outside look beautiful, but inside they are full of the bones of the dead and of all kinds of filth. 28So you also on the outside look righteous to others, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.โ (Matthew 23: 27-28)
When Jesus looks you in the eye and tells you that you are in a heap of trouble, and compares you to a grave that looks nice on the outside, but you are dead bones on the inside, one better sit up and listen.

Lord Jesus. I praise You and thank You for Your mercy. I humbly come to You asking you to lead, guide, and direct me. Forgive me for when I have judged others when I have planks in my own eyes. Help me to be able to warn and present truth in love. I thank You for giving me eyes and ears, Lord. I am grateful to be Your humble servant. Forgive me when I get it wrong and help me to receive correction when it's indeed the truth. Help me to not judge if someone else's path looks a little different than mine. Your Word says "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
I believe Your Word to be true. Help us to identify false doctrine by way of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to not throw someone in the trash can because we may not agree on all matters (Romans 14). I am guilty, Lord. Your will be done yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

In sharing this verse in Hebrews, I am thinking of all the Christians thinking they are bold but are really clanging brass. Clanging brass is the last thing I ever want to be! We have to discern this when sharing truth.
Sometimes people use scripture to back up being divisive, harsh, prideful, and arrogant when it's their opinion on a matter and not His Word.
