Christian Music - Testimony Bit

This is how God works through anyone, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Part 1 - Intro to "Jesus Music"

I was in the shower listening to praise and worship a bit ago....and you know how you have your best thoughts when you're in the shower with no pen? Yeah. That's what happened. I was thinking about how Christian music changed my life several years ago. I'm going to try to put it together here.

I was thinking back to a time I was sitting at my desk at work years ago and was overhearing a conversation between coworkers. They were talking about radio stations and one of the girls started making fun of Christian radio. She was saying how cheesy it was and trying to sound like pop music....yadda yadda yadda.

Anyways....

I turned around and asked her what the station it was she was talking about; she told me what it was and we had a har har har and when I got off of work, I started listening to it. I had no idea there were even Christian radio stations. Now....imagine this. The music I listened to did not honor God AT ALL. It was rebellious, dark, and the opposite of anything God says pretty much.

I disciplined myself to listen to that Christian radio station they were making fun of and not touch any of my old music for a stretch. Let me tell you....just that little move did SO MUCH mentally and spiritually and what I intended on being a "stretch" or a test run, ended up being no turning back!

Listening to that music changed my life several years ago.

Listening to that radio station...REALLY 𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆....to the words...the praise....I started looking up in the Bible what I was hearing and it was ON!

I have been saved since I was 13...but I finally started understanding things by the grace of God! I had been missing out on so much in the Word of God, man. So much!

Waiting until my 30's to truly seek His face! And I have two women from work that were making fun of Christian music to thank for that. Thank you God for using them for YOUR glory! What they rejected is now a blessing to my soul.

I am sharing this hoping for anyone out there to see that sometimes all it takes is a song to lead you into the Word of God. To seek His face. Our Creator. The one that gives us our very breath. The One we WILL meet face to face one day! Every one of us. We don't hide the Light under a basket so it just illuminates our own immediate space, we share it. We put it on a lampstand so everyone can see it.

When we come to the saving knowledge of Christ, it's not an overnight change for many of us. Some of us are intimidated to study the Bible...thinking we're not smart enough. Some of us feel we are too sinful to even speak the name of Christ out loud in fear of judgement from our peers....I know! That was me for a long time!

Now, I know who I am in Christ and have been since I was 13....I just didn't realize so much for so long. I am blessed, chosen, loved, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, and an accepted saint in Christ! I am marked and sealed with the Holy Spirit and that is how God sees me! That is who I am! He's been with me every step of the way since I was young. I've always been in the palm of His hand and no man could pluck me out.

Take every thought captive....I get it now. What music am I listening to? What am I reading? What am I following or watching on my various screens? How do I spend my free time? Does it draw me closer to Christ? Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (Take every thought captive!)

I want to share my playlists with you if you are reading this and were like me and have no idea where to start in praise, worship, and getting closer to God. We all have to start somewhere! They are not perfect lists by some people's standards. I even find myself adding and removing songs often. That's all I'll say about THAT here in part one of this testimony bit.

I will share a playlist that's mostly contemporary (Praise & Worship) and then another that is Christian hip hop (Pray Against The Machine).

There are many false spirits out there; it is written. We are to test these music artists against the word of God the same way we test teachers, preachers, and anyone else that uses the name of God. God is just a title. Which "god" are they referring to?

Anyways. Maybe just listen to the playlists and pick out a few songs that you like. Especially if you are interested in making some changes in what you listen to and feed your mind. If you find some songs you like, start your own playlist. I pray you be blessed and some of this is helpful to someone out there.

Part 2 below will be more on where I'm at now with Christian music and being led by a false spirit. Some of it might freak out Christians, others will be grateful for the information and take it up with the Lord in prayer. It's up to you how you want to take the information. I don't condemn you because I'm still working on some of this myself.

I don't toss out every artist that throws up a hand sign during a concert in 2003 or something, haha. Some of you guys know what I'm saying there. But for real. I discern some of this stuff is important to be aware of.

Part 2 - Hypnosis and False Spirits

This is where I discuss where I'm at currently with discerning "Jesus music". Especially modern contemporary songs. I dig deeper with nearly everything. So there's that.

As I grow in my walk, continue reading the scriptures, and experience Jesus in my life - there is less and less hoopla I'm impressed by. I think about this in some of the praise and worship music I have been listening to, as well. I think of movements, revivals, conventions - how much of it is an "emotional experience"? Is it the real thing? It matters to me.

It almost seems like hypnosis. Vain repetition. Emotional manipulation. How is that any worse than what secular music was pumping into my heart and mind? Or listening to a secular motivational speech?

But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Matthew 6:7

I will keep testing the spirits just like God said to. That includes "Jesus music".

There are many "jesus's" out there.

Not an emotional experience. I do see where there was repetition in the bible when worship was involved. Not all repetition is bad.

We can see that in the Psalms, for example. Many justify the repetition in modern music and chanting with Revelation 4:8, as well.

But I've also learned a lot about music, repetition, and frequency in the last several years. The battle for the mind is a thing. Let us discern the times we are in and test all people who claim and use the name of Jesus.

Hypnosis and manipulation in music and religion: You either want to know more and never be manipulated by a false spirit or ya don't. And if you aren't ready to address this or aren't led to at this time, I can certainly respect that. There's still many things I still have to put on the back burner because I'm not quite ready to address it. Pray about it and let the Holy Spirit lead. I am not trying to be a pharisee about it.

Personally, I appreciate my friend sharing this short video with me (linked below). It's a tough topic because nobody wants to believe they are being manipulated or ever have been.

It's not the same as the angels worshipping God day and night (Rev 4:8) and I believe the presentation below explains that well. There is no scripture that will ever justify hypnosis or manipulative tactics.

Listen to the rhythm of HYPNOSIS in this short video:

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.

Psalm 115:1

If you made it this far and would like to know more about music and the power it has over people, check this out:

In the comment section of the mind control post, I shared some experiments with sound and vibrations, frequency programming...

Very interesting stuff, especially when you consider how much of our body is made of water.

If you get through this whole post and also the mind control one and are just sitting there wondering what the heck you are supposed to do now, here's some Dappy T Keys instrumental piano worship music until you figure it out, haha. I'm right there with you.

Peace and blessings.

Keep a look out in the comment section below.

I assure you, I will share more interesting, upsetting, AND edifying things there as I come across them. I just gotta dig around my old social media posts to find them. 😅

"Is this saying that we shouldn’t listen to secular music?"

When I read this meme, it resonated as some of the thoughts many of us have as we grow in our walk. Worldly stuff just isn't the same. Many people do not understand how to strengthen their walk - well, sharing things like this I would think would be helpful to them.

This meme was shared WITH us not AT us.

Philippians 1:6

I don't think there is a yes or a no answer to this without sounding legalistic. This question really shouldn't have even been asked because it didn't say "do not listen to secular music".

It means be more mindful and intentional.

Peace and blessings.

Y'all can take her wisdom (pearls) or leave em. I personally appreciate people that will keep it real!

It's hard to digest that your favorite musician has you repeating things that are not good at all when you sing along (what you are subconsciously telling yourself when you sing along). That they are using manipulative frequencies and beats (that is a very interesting thing to research, by the way)....

(It's not just Beyonce. Strange things have been happening at several concerts.)

What we allow IN is important for our spiritual well-being. I still have a hard time with some of the music I use to listen to. It's just not the same. I can't even listen to it without my…

Those of you that believe in Law of Attraction or even the Christians that believe in Name It And Claim It....okkkkkkk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Listen to this one and tell me how that works with name it and claim it, Christians. How does this work with Law of Attraction?

Lyrics to a song we all know: "lose this inhibition, follow your intuition"

Where'd that get folks? Pregnant, STD's, feeling worthless after you done lost your inhibition and followed your intuition....I mean, that may not be you - but look around, fam. Folks are hanging by a thread around here. Mock & laugh all ya want. But they are laughing at us all the way to the bank. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs)

Secular Music

Reminds of me of back when Madonna would do this stuff and would pass it off as art. Just trying to shock people and then gaslight them. The entertainment industry just keeps recycling the same old antics. 🙄 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. 𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰.
